Bob Schettler
|
| When Bob first came to Boulder in 1986, he quit drinking and attended some counseling classes where he received his first massage. This experience brought a whole new light to his recovery process, and began for him a lifelong journey towards holistic health and healing.
During the next seven years, he worked at the Boulder Alcohol Recovery Center and a private psychiatric hospital. He found that by integrating regular massage into his life he was able to meet his own needs for self care and stress relief, even while working within the highly stressful environment of the mental health field.
In 1993 he moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where he graduated from Phoenix Therapeutic Massage College, and began working in many of the local resorts. His clients included some well-known athletes, musicians, and actors, as well as hospice patients, students, and cancer survivors. During this time, he also established a thriving independent practice, with many of his clients staying with him from their first visit—often for 10 years or more.
Bob’s personality is subtle and non-interfering, and with his many years of experience and education as a basis for his practice, he is able to bring personal healing and pain relief to many of his clients. He brings a deep sense of well-being and relaxation to each individual session, and is deeply attuned with the body’s sources of tension and points of pain relief.
Bob offers a large palette of techniques, including: pregnancy massage, reflexology, deep tissue, energy work, structural integration, Swedish massage, trigger point, sports massage, chair/seated massage, and pressure point therapy. | back to top |

Kate Mahoney
|
| Kate first discovered her passion for alternative therapies shortly after she moved to the Boulder area from Virginia in 1994. Having come from a background heavily influenced by Western Medicine and having suffered from her own health issues, Kate found that simple lifestyle changes and bodywork provided more relief than painkillers and heartburn medication. She has since become an avid reader of all books having to do with health and nutrition. She finally decided to study massage in addition to her personal study of nutrition, and she graduated from the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in 2002. Since graduation Kate has worked with sports medicine and chiropractic clients, as well as at a popular spa in Steamboat Springs, CO. But Boulder keeps calling her back.
Kate’s work is a combination of several different modalities, providing a massage that is both therapeutic and extremely relaxing. Taking techniques from Swedish, deep tissue, orthopedic, myofascial release, and sports massage, then adding energy work from shiatsu, polarity therapy, and integrative massage, Kate has developed her own style that is as unique as it is effective. She likes to combine deeper techniques that really get the blood flowing with subtle, gentle techniques that allow the body to relax. Also, Kate prides herself on her ability to tune into her client’s tissues and feel the minute changes that occur there, enabling her to respond to the body rather than intruding on it. Each of Kate’s sessions is individually tailored to meet the client’s needs. | back to top |

Lawrence Rincon
|
| Lawrence Rincon is owner of our Denver store and a Certified Advanced Rolfer™ with 1800 hours of training in structural integration + 4500 clinical hours of bodywork. He specializes in treating chronic pain – spine, cervical, TMJ, repetitive use strains, joint, post-surgical, and visceral issues related to structure. In addition to his technical skills, clients also value his ability to create a nurturing session.
Structural Integration ~ Rolfing® is the art and science of inviting the body toward a more natural state of alignment, posture, and inherent movement. The medium for this change is an exploration of perception, coordination, and the body’s connective tissue. This soft skeleton can be gently reorganized around the core, freeing the body as it comes into balance with gravity. But it’s our habitual patterns of perception and coordination that neurologically return us to our posture. Rehabilitating these patterns, often main contributors to chronic pain, offers the client a powerful tool for their own healing. The work is particularly useful for anyone who is feeling “off” because of unresolved accidents, operations, or years of repetitive work and neglect.
Lawrence teaches Structural Integration at the Rolf Institute in Boulder and enjoys yoga, cycling, running, dancing and moving for a good cause- biking 585 miles for the California AIDS Ride, 200 miles for the Multiple Sclerosis Society bike tour, and participating in the Bolder Boulder 3 years running. | back to top |
